The Passat is the best-selling Volkswagen model of all time, right behind the legendary Golf. Since 1981, when the first generation of this model was launched, Volkswagen has sold more than 34 million such vehicles. Today, at the beginning of 2024, it is the turn of the 9th generation Passat.

Our guest this time will be a well-known actor. And not only because Gundar Grasberg’s height is 1m93cm 😉 He is a versatile and musically educated actor who has also been seen on the theater stage playing the double bass. He has been working in the National Theater for 18 years and has played many bright characters – Raina, Creon, Voiceka…and also the wolf (in the story of the Little Red Riding Hood). And his portrayal of the Hat in the 35th anniversary production of Zigmar Liepiņš’s rock opera “Lāčplēsis” was certainly vivid.

The new Passat is based on the fundamentally modernized Volkswagen MQB EVO platform. (further on it will be offered only as a station wagon, the sedan version will no longer be produced). Passat has become bigger. It has increased in length by 144mm, in width by 17mm. Visually, the water lines of the car have become more flowing, rounder, and due to this, the aerodynamics of this car have been improved… Looking from the front, a huge radiator grill, matrix led lights are visible, and as you can see, they are now connected to each other with this LED light string.

In the cabin, the Passat has become more similar to the models of the ID family. The gearshift lever has been moved here behind the steering wheel, thanks to which there is plenty of free space in the center console for storage compartments and cup holders. The main control center is this large horizontal display.

But among the improved car driving assistant systems, park assist can be mentioned. With Park Assist Pro, the Passat is able to drive into and out of a parking space with remote control via smartphone. But if the system has a memory function, it can record and save the last 50 meters of the trip on demand. This means – in a known place (for example, at the entrance to your home’s car park) it can take over the parking maneuver from you.
