The bad weather this weekend reached an exceptional level. This Tuesday, April 2, the town hall of Dijon as well as that of Montbard have contacted the State services so that the natural disaster situation is recognized for the two cities.
Allow insurance reimbursement
In a press release, they invite residents who have been victims of damage to send an estimate of their losses to their insurance companies. They will thus be able to benefit of the compensation scheme provided for by the law of July 13, 1982.
Compensation from insurers is in fact only possible if the municipality is recognized as being in a state of natural disaster. People who have seen their property damaged have 30 days to inform their insurance companies.
A flood peak at 3.25 meters
During the Easter weekend, bad weather caused a peak in the Ouche river. On Monday, April 1, it reached nearly 3.25 meters, higher than the 2001 flood.
The flood has now started, however the water level remains high.
