The Government promotes the industrialization process with import substitution, and within this framework it will monitor the procedures of small producers in the state bank.
La Paz, April 1, 2024 (AEP). – The SIBOLIVIA credit, whose annual interest rate is just 0.5%, has Bs 1,360 million to benefit small producers of soybeans and oil species, such as macororó and oil palm. These raw materials will be used in the Santa Cruz and El Alto biodiesel plants.
The Minister of Productive Development and Plural Economy, Néstor Huanca, said that these resources are available to small producers, but clarified that the agricultural frontier in eastern Bolivia will not be expanded due to the consequences on the environment.
“We are not talking about opening new extensions. What Emapa will do is have an oil extraction plant in San Julián in the department of Santa Cruz. We will buy from small producers who have prepared their lands between 20, 30 and 40 hectares, but who are not producing in their entirety. With the SIBOLIVIA credit we will help them complete their production 100%,” the authority clarified.
The Government promotes the process of industrialization with import substitution, and within this framework it will follow up on the procedures of small producers in the state bank, given rumors from some credit agents that this economic measure would no longer be in force.
The SIBOLIVIA credit initially benefited wheat producers, but due to the opening of the Biodiesel Plant in Santa Cruz and the soon inauguration of the El Alto plant, President Luis Arce promotes the production of oil species in eastern Bolivia.
“With access to these credits, small producers can buy their machinery and expand soybean capacity for the next sowing. The condition is that the new harvest must supply the production of ecological diesel,” he stressed.
The SIBOLIVIA credit, which was created by Supreme Decree 4424 in 2020, authorizes the Ministry of Productive Development and Plural Economy to establish Trusts for the Reactivation and Development of the National Industry, with the aim of reviving the economy affected by Covid-19 and the de facto government of Jeanine Añez.
