Van Gogh Art Installation Sparks Controversy in Hong Kong Cultural Centers

[Independent media report]Following the emergence of a sea of white flowers at the East Kowloon Cultural Center that looked like a mourning hall, some netizens pointed out that a “mini version of the mountain tomb” appeared on the long staircase of the Hong Kong Cultural Center in Tsim Sha Tsui, with white electronic candles spread from top to bottom, such as “Welcome the Qingming Festival” Festival”. It turned out that the candles were one of the art installations in the exhibition “Van Gogh’s Seal of Music”. In response to media inquiries, the organizer explained that the relevant installation was an extension of the opening ceremony of the exhibition. They hoped to use candles to imitate the twinkling of stars and the warmth of light in Van Gogh’s works. They also pointed out that the arrangement of candles represented the Milky Way, implying that Hong Kong is a place connecting the East and the West. Cities can connect everyone around the world.

In response to media inquiries, the organizer, the Leading Charitable Foundation, pointed out that the public staircase decoration next to Tsim Sha Tsui Plaza was installed for the opening of “Van Gogh. Le Print” on March 28. It is also an extension of the exhibition and hopes to provide the public with additional art experience. .

The organizer explained that by placing candles to illuminate the adjacent stairs, they hoped to use candles to imitate the twinkling and warmth of light in the stars in Van Gogh’s works. They also pointed out that the arrangement of the candles reminded the audience of the rotating and all-encompassing Milky Way above, and the candles brought everyone together. Linked together, just like Hong Kong as an international city connecting East and West, candles can make happy wishes come true for people around the world.
