Artist Ham Yang-ah’s media art ‘Invisible Clothes’ presented in a special exhibition. PIBI Gallery What makes Art Basel, the world’s best and largest art fair held every June, special is ‘Unlimited.’ Large-scale installation works by gallery artists selected through strict screening are displayed to capture attention and provide a special experience.
Art O&O also plans to hold a special exhibition in exhibition room 2 during the fair, providing a visual impact similar to ‘Unlimited’. The media and performance special exhibition ‘Once you Own It’ is held under the theme of ‘immateriality’. Art fairs that focus on paintings for sale are an opportunity to encounter media art that is difficult to access. This special exhibition, which invites professional planners as curators, is held in collaboration with galleries participating in the art fair, and shows a wide spectrum of works by artists belonging to the gallery.
First, Phoebe Gallery presents Ham Yang-ah’s media work ‘Invisible Clothes’. This work is a 14-minute short video work that was nominated for the 2008 Hermes Art Award. The story unfolds of a conflict between a scientist who claims he can create virtual clothes with perfect technology and a fashion stylist who claims the authority of clothes.
Artist Ham Yang-ah has been traveling between Seoul, New York, Amsterdam, and Istanbul, continuing to experimentally install various media such as video, sculpture, installation, and objects. As a media artist, Yang-Ah Ham conveys her unique narrative in her work by metaphorically describing aspects of our society based on human life. She is an artist and participated in exhibitions as a candidate for the Hermes Art Award in 2008 and the Artist of the Year Award in 2013.
The Gathering Gallery in London will also exhibit human-scale video works by Ndaye Kuagu, who is scheduled to have a solo exhibition this fall. Kouago, who held a solo exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo, a contemporary art museum in Paris, last year, is an artist born in 1992 and living in Paris. Recently, his work has expanded into performance, film, textiles, sculpture, and installation.
Through his new video, Kuagu lures viewers into an immersive environment built like the digital landscape of TikTok and Instagram. Kuagu asks existential questions and simulates conversations with visitors like an influencer. You can find delightful work where humor and seriousness coexist.
In addition, Art O&O also conducts various docent tour programs that allow visitors to visit the exhibition halls of participating galleries and artist studios to view the works in a more three-dimensional way. To this end, K Artist Art Consulting, which has participated in major art fairs in Asia such as ‘Art SG’ (Singapore), ‘Taipei Dandai’ (Taiwan), and ‘Tokyo Gendai’ (Japan), is the first company to open in Korea based on its know-how. From introductions to visiting galleries and artists to special exhibitions, we plan to help you understand difficult art in an easy-to-understand way.
