Michael Smith (47) was brutally stabbed to death by Anthony Jordan, an older man (63) and ex-convict, in an apartment in East Harlem, Manhattan (NYC).
According to disturbing new details revealed by prosecutors in court, at noon on March 17 Jordan allegedly stabbed Smith multiple times, who had already He had a bullet lodged in his chest after surviving a shooting in 2006.
The attack just now was so forceful that the knife cuts exposed Smith’s internal organs, according to the indictment. The dramatic scene took place at an apartment near E. 132nd St. and Madison Ave. Neither of those involved lived there, both had criminal records, but the motive for the crime is unclear, according to Daily News.

The victim lived a few blocks away, but Jordan knew he would be in that apartment when he broke in., without even greeting the person who opened the door. Upon arrival he immediately asked for Smith and, within moments, the two men engaged in a pitched fight, prosecutors said at the arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
The witness who opened the door walked into the living room and saw a knife sticking out of Jordan’s leg and Smith trying to grab it, according to prosecutors.
Smith slipped and fell to the ground, landing on his back. Jordan stabbed him four times in the chest before a second witness entered, then continued stabbing him until the blade became lodged in the wounded man’s chest, according to prosecutors.
Jordan needed both hands to remove the knife from Smith’s body, prosecutors said. He left the apartment and walked down seven flights of stairs, allegedly carrying the blood-soaked knife in a gloved hand the entire way.
The neighbors called 911 and the paramedics Smith was taken to Harlem Hospital with eight large stab wounds to his torso.. She died within an hour.
Jordan, who was arrested on Tuesday the 19th and charged with murder, remains detained without bail. Prosecutors described him as a felon with five felonies and 15 misdemeanors on his record.
Smith, who also had an arrest record and served 14 months in state prison for attempted robbery in the 1990s, was shot several times on E. 128th St. near Lexington Ave. in March 2006. Police arrested Rodney McNeil , 45, approximately six months later for that attempted murder.
Days before Smith’s death there was a similar case in The Bronx (NYC): Colin Small, a man dismembered in his apartment, was allegedly the victim of Sheldon Johnson Jr., his childhood friend who had become a criminal activist after spending 25 years in prison.
Also this month, Tyrone Swinton, a 60-year-old grandfather, was fatally shot after opening the doors of his Harlem home to a young man in trouble, according to his family.
In January a dissected body was found in the refrigerator of an apartment in Brooklyn (NYC). It was later determined that he was an ex-convict who had been reported missing in March 2022.
Domestic violence is common in New York City and surrounding areas, between relatives, roommates and partners, even with minor victims. Every day in NYC, an average of about 747 incidents of domestic violence -including assaults, abuses, verbal abuse- and about 65 homicides annually.
All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
