NYC Woman, 57, Suffers Broken Jaw and Lost Teeth After Random Attack in Brooklyn

Dulce Pichardo, a 57-year-old woman, suffered a broken jaw and lost three teeth when a man randomly hit her while she was walking down the street on Tuesday in broad daylight in Brooklyn (NYC).

The sudden attack occurred at Grand Avenue and Dean Street in Crown Heights and was caught on surveillance video. Pichardo’s brother owns a restaurant across the street and was able to pursue the attacker. The suspect Franz Jeudy (33) was arrested and charged with assault, police said.

Pichardo was walking on the sidewalk when out of nowhere he received a punch in the face. The blow caused him to stumble backwards. “It just hit me here on the right side, very hard,” the victim pointed out PIX11.

He added that his attacker never said a word to him. “I was surprised. I said, ‘What’s going on? Why did you hit me? Because you did? I did not do anything. There’s no reason to hit me.” Pichardo asked rhetorically.

Pichardo’s jaw was closed with surgical wire as a result of the blow. Three teeth fell out and he has nerve damage. He also lost sensation in his lips and currently has to drink his food with a straw or straw because he cannot chew.

Beyond her injuries, Pichardo said that what has affected her the most is her fear. She hopes the city will do more to ensure people are safe walking down the street. “I don’t want this to happen again. I want New York to do something about it. They have to stop this. It’s not fair,” she stated.

“Random” violence is constant in New York, mostly in streets, parks, buses and the New York Subway. Also on Tuesday at noon a walker was hit in the head in Chelsea (Manhattan) and the attacker is still at large.

Earlier this month a woman had a cup of hot water thrown at her as she walked on a street in Midtown Manhattan at the start of the day.

Last month another woman was hit in the head with a baseball bat while walking on a sidewalk in Chelsea, Manhattan. Days later, a passenger stabbed a taxi driver in her neck when he tried to collect payment for the trip in Queens (NYC).

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
