A young Cuban woman died in Las Vegas, Nevada, a few weeks after entering the United States, and her family is doing everything possible to repatriate her body back to the Island to say goodbye.
This is Thailen Brindis López, known to her friends as Thay, who lost her life on March 24.
The death of the young woman, originally from Santiago de Cuba, has generated much pain among those who knew her in life, who describe her as a kind and happy person.
“Rest in peace Thay Toast may God always take care of you, we talked so much to see each other here, we said so much in Cuba, one day we are going to be there, God gave you the opportunity to arrive, but I don’t know why he didn’t give you more time to “that you enjoy this beautiful country,” wrote the young Yoismeli Guilarte, a friend of the deceased.
These people are aware of the situation their family is going through in order to repatriate their mortal remains, which is why they have asked for the community’s cooperation to be able to accomplish this.
“To all the people who know her, we are going to help with something so that she can get to where her mother is, Santiago de Cuba is in mourning. Fly high my girl, one day we will see each other again,” Guilarte added.
In order to fulfill this, the young woman’s family started a campaign on the platform GoFundMe, where they are requesting money to be able to cover the expenses to transport the body of the deceased to Cuba.
“All of us who knew her are shocked by the news. We will always remember Thay for his positivity and joy. All of Santiago watched her grow and we shared moments full of laughter and jokes. “Let’s help her loved ones say their last goodbye,” she reads in the campaign.
At the time of writing this note, the noble cause had managed to raise more than $11,000 with the help of 298 donations. However, it is possible that this money is not enough, since the cost of transporting a body to the Greater Antilles can be very high, depending on whether it has been cremated or not.
