March 18 the Virtual Election Consultant is starting work – a chatbot that will provide information about the upcoming elections and the referendum. As the Central Election Commission (CEC) informs, this chatbot will provide general information and will act as an additional channel for informing voters both during the CEC’s working hours and on days off and holidays.
“As the election marathon approaches, we feel an intensified flow of calls and voter inquiries, so we very much hope that our new virtual colleague will help us find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the elections and the voting process,” said Lina Petronienė, chairperson of the CEC, presenting the chatbot.
According to her, the Virtual Election Consultant’s intelligence is artificial, he is trained to understand the questions of people who turn to him and to maintain a conversation about the elections taking place in Lithuania.
The Virtual Election Consultant answers voters’ questions on the CEC website without getting tired of it www.vrk.lt working around the clock, seven days a week.
He will provide general consultations that do not require personal identification, nor will he assess possible violations of the Election Code.
“The chatbot is just getting started, so if it happens that our virtual colleague can’t find the answer, we hope that our website visitors will be understanding and tolerant. CEC employees will constantly monitor the quality of the chatbot’s communication and update its knowledge, so if they ask a question and do not receive an answer, voters will contribute to the improvement of the robot’s artificial intelligence,” said the CEC chairwoman.
The intelligent chatbot was created by the CEC while working together with the experts of UAB “Tilde informacinės technologiis”.
