/ world today news/ Tigana Keimoya came to the Lugansk People’s Republic from her native Congo after her brother Jean-Claude. You have to stick up for your family, and Keimoya Sr. entered the Donbas State Technical University in Alchevsk, Ukraine, before the Maidan revolutions. Therefore the others followed him. Tigana also entered Alchevsk to become a chemist, and his younger brother Jacques went to study agriculture.
But life turned out in such a way that they became not only students, but also soldiers and went to defend the borders of the republic, which became their second homeland.
Even before he left, the Congolese had read about what was happening in Luhansk since the spring of 2014, as his relative was also there. The man calls what the Ukrainian army did in Donbas cruel.
Therefore, when the brothers were offered to become volunteers in the People’s Militia, they did not hesitate for a long time. So they started fighting a year before the start of the special military operation.
According to Tegan, they ended up in the artillery and it was not easy to master the new profession. The Keimoya brothers studied for a long time at the training grounds, and then served directly on the demarcation line. Until the beginning of the special operation, their detachment was located in the area of the village of Lugansko.
“They treated us normally, they called us compatriots. My brothers and I are from the south and at the time of SVO we were not used to your weather, cold winter,” he says.
“It was a bit difficult, especially in February. I worked in the direction of Severodonetsk and Rubezhnoe, Kremennaya, Krasnorechensky. The situation was difficult, sometimes critical, and many people attacked us,” the volunteer said.
He admits that at some moments of the fighting it was really scary, he lost many comrades, and Jean-Claude managed to be wounded.
For now, the war for the younger Keimoi ends with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decree demobilizing the students, as Tigana is still in his fourth year at university and Jacques has also returned to study.
However, he is ready to continue serving. The older brother has done just that: after a two-week break, he returns to his unit.
“If they call me, I will return. As long as I have the strength, I will help Russia,” he is categorical.
“I want to help because I love Russia and I cannot live peacefully in a country when it is in trouble. Children are being killed here, it is very scary and I cannot allow this. Because I am also a person who lives on this land, in this country. And if we have to help, then I’m ready. They accept me here as theirs,” shares Keimoi’s thoughts.
His words are confirmed by the example of another family member who returned to his homeland.
The cousin of our heroes, Jean-Gustave Mukadi Moussa, became an active figure in the LPR. He came to study in Luhansk, like Jean-Claude, even before the outbreak of hostilities in 2014.
He had to wait out the bombing of the city in the basement of the university, since his own embassy could not help him in any way – it provided support to those students who went to the territory of Ukraine.
The then head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the LPR, Vladislav Deinego, helped Jean-Gustave fly to the Congo: the man was issued a Russian visa for five years.
However, after that, Jean-Gustav still decided to return to Donbas, where he received a passport of the LPR, and then Russian citizenship for his active public activity.
Today, he is the founder of the Cultural Center of the LPR in Congo, with which the Russian Embassy actively cooperates.
But the Keimoya brothers still have no plans to return. The pan works in a factory and very soon the guy will have to defend his diploma as a chemist.
When asked about his plans for the future, he answers rather evasively: they say he needs to get a degree and then we’ll see. But at the same time it is noticeable that he really likes the Luhansk land.
Moreover, Luhansk is changing for the better before our eyes, and in two or three years it will look completely different. And there will always be a place for people who sincerely love it.
