Not even a quarter had passed of the Allsvenskan premiere before last year’s best player, Sebastian Nanasi, found last year’s top scorer, Isaac Kiese Thelin.
The header would be redeeming and MFF’s attack washed over IFK Norrköping in wave after wave. And the goals kept rolling in. Nanasi scored, Kiese Thelin had an assist and new signing Erik Botheim also scored.
With minutes left in the match, Malmö FF had five different scorers, they slowed down the tempo.
“Beijing” then scored a consolation goal via substitute Isak Andri Sigurgeirsson, but it was not enough as the match ended 5-1 to MFF.
– It was fun to play. Five goals ahead always fun. In the best of worlds, we also keep a clean sheet, a bit unfortunate at the end, says Nanasi to SVT Sport.
What do you say about your contribution?
– Got a goal and an assist, it feels good, I feel involved. But the most important thing is that we win.
Watson: “Can’t talk away
There were considerably more gloomy expressions in IFK Norrköping’s camp.
– We are obviously dissatisfied with how we are performing today. We are disappointed like everyone else. No fun, says Max Watson.
What was wrong?
– We offer a lot of goals at the back. We are sloppy and they are sharp and efficient while we are inefficient. 5-1 cannot be talked away.
