Weather forecast, the Colomba cyclone brings bad weather and ‘red snow’ to the Alps. Easter with abnormal heat, Easter Monday at risk

The Colomba cyclone, as forecast, is causing severe bad weather throughout Italy. The website www.iLMeteo.it confirms the danger of this cyclone from North to South. In detail we will still have heavy snowfall in the North up to low altitudes for the period (800-1000 metres), thunderstorms and possible hailstorms across the whole country in patches of leopard. It will seem, especially in the North, as if we are back in winter.

Heavy rain in the North

In the next few hours the heaviest rainfall will hit much of the North and the Tyrrhenian side from Campania upwards; from the afternoon the bad weather, even extreme, will rage on the entire Tyrrhenian side, the South and will also station in the North-East. In summary, a Black Wednesday with potentially flood conditions.

Red snow in the Alps

Furthermore, the weather and sea conditions will be difficult due to the wind that will blow gale force especially in the Centre-South: the Ligurian Sea and the Sardinian sea will be very rough with waves of up to 5 metres. So as not to miss anything, a lot of desert sand is also arriving which will cloak our cars and our mountains in a Saharan ocher colour: the famous Red Snow is also expected in the Alps, with flakes mixed with North African sand.

It gets better from Thursday

With such a disturbed Wednesday, the weather will only improve in the following days: Holy Thursday will still be unstable in the Centre-North but with phenomena gradually waning and the opening of large clearings.

From Good Friday onwards, an African anticyclone will rise again which will bring a significant increase in temperatures everywhere, especially in the Centre-South: the weather will be mostly sunny except for showers in the Alps and Liguria on Friday and in the North-West on Saturday.

Warm Easter

The good news could continue for Easter with a very hot, almost summery Sunday in the South, with peaks of 32°C; it will be hot for the period also in the Center while the day will be a little more uncertain only in the North and locally in Upper Tuscany. All in all, Easter will be good in more than 75% of the country.

Easter Monday at risk

Easter Monday, as per tradition, could be stormy in the North and part of the Centre, but confirmations are still needed. At the moment, showers are expected, extending from the North-West towards Tuscany, Marche and the North-East, alternating with bursts of sunshine. In the rest of the Center and in the South we will still have warm and mostly sunny conditions except for sometimes compact clouds.

In summary, after the bad weather of the next few hours, the cyclone of the dove will move away and from Friday a robust African anticyclone will rise again especially in the south-eastern sector of the country: anomalous heat is expected for Easter with summer peaks of up to 32°C especially in the South.
