The International Company of African Rail Transport (SITARAIL) provided free train transport for the best students in the Nahouri Province on Tuesday March 26, 2024. According to the company, this action aims to support excellence in schools and falls within the framework of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy.
It’s a dream that has come true for these best students from the Nahouri province who dreamed of traveling by train. Indeed, at the request of the Association for the Promotion of Excellence in Schools (APEMS), SITARAIL provided transportation for the best students from Nahouri, as part of its activities. In its correspondence addressed to SITARAIL, the association requested a fare reduction for the benefit of students for the Ouagadougou – Koudougou route. To this request, SITARAIL, in addition to responding favorably, decided to provide, free of charge, this trip to these brilliant students and their supervisors, from Ouagadougou to Koudougou. According to Sibnoaga Alexis Ouédraogo, Representative of SITARAIL in Burkina Faso, it is completely natural for the company to support this initiative. “When we received the letter from the Association, we realized that we were indeed dealing with brilliant students who needed to be encouraged. At SITARAIL, we support excellence. This is why we decided to support initiatives within the framework of education and training,” he says. And for the safety of the students. The train is certainly one of the safest means of transport. But SITARAIL wanted to make students aware of the safety measures to be adopted before the departure of the train, during the journey and when stopping. “When you are on board a train, there are a certain number of safety instructions to follow. This is why we are obliged to explain to train passengers what to do. Safety in the railway sector is essential,” argued the Representative of SITARAIL before informing that the company is not its first action in favor of the school and student world. “We often receive students from different schools for tours of our facilities, whether our stations or our workshops.”
For its part, the Association for the Promotion of Excellence in Schools, initiator of this study trip for the benefit of these best students from Nahouri, did not fail to express, through its Secretary General, all its recognition to SITARAIL for this support which is likely to further galvanize students in the pursuit of their school curriculum. “The train is a very important means of transport. We saw fit to introduce them to the train and they will not fail to tell their comrades about this unforgettable experience,” he concluded. Grace Oulon, speaking on behalf of all the best students from the Centre-Sud, thanked SITARAIL for having graciously offered them this train trip. She also promised that she and her comrades would redouble their hard work.
Remember that the passenger train resumed on March 17, 2024 on the Ouagadougou – Niangoloko section, with services to the stations of Ouagadougou, Koudougou, Siby, Bobo-Dioulasso, Banfora and Niangoloko. Taking into account the concerns of its customers, the company has reorganized its prices, making them more accessible. Ouagadougou – Niangoloko transport costs 6,000 FCFA. As for transport from Ouagadougou to intermediate destinations such as Koudougou and Siby, the price is 3,000 FCFA.
