The Attorney General’s Office of Guerrero reported that the case of Camila, an 8-year-old girl kidnapped and murdered in the municipality of Taxco, will be investigated as feminicide.
The state Public Ministry specified that on March 27, it began the investigation file for the crime of disappearance committed by individuals to the detriment of the minor, after receiving the formal complaint.
“Through the operations, agents of the Ministerial Investigative Police (PIM) located the lifeless minor on the Taxco-Cuernavaca highway, whose identity was confirmed through the corresponding tests,” the statement mentions.
In that sense, the FGE began investigations into the crime of femicide.
“This Justice Prosecution Institution is waiting for a control judge to issue arrest warrants against those allegedly responsible,” the autonomous body explained.
Camila was reported missing on the afternoon of March 27, after leaving her house and with the intention of meeting a friend who invited her to play.
According to available information, the family received calls from different unknown numbers asking for 250 thousand pesos to return the girl safe and sound.
Camila’s kidnapping immediately captured the attention of public opinion, so a video was released on social networks where a man and a woman can be seen entering the trunk of a taxi with black bags and what appears to be a basket with clothes.
During the morning of this Thursday, it was reported that Camila was found dead on the Taxco-Cuernavaca highway inside a bag, so the minor’s body was taken to the Forensic Medical Service of the municipality of Iguala.
After the discovery was made known, relatives of the minor, neighbors and feminist groups in Taxco overturned two taxis and carried out a total blockade on the Mexico-Acapulco highway, at the exit to Cuernavaca, where they demanded the arrest of those responsible.
Later, these people blocked the street where those allegedly responsible for the kidnapping and murder of the minor were allegedly located.
Although elements of the State Police also arrived at the scene, the people beat the woman and two other men who were beaten out of their house.
In different recordings shared on social networks, it is observed how the mob beats the three people, but mainly they attack the woman who, despite being escorted by the police, is beaten with extreme violence.
At first it emerged that Camila’s alleged attackers had been sent to the hospital for medical attention, but it was later revealed that the woman died at the Public Ministry facilities.
The neighbors’ anger arose because the authorities apparently refused to issue an arrest warrant against the accused people.
Due to these events, the Guerrero Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation file for the crime of qualified homicide and injuries against Ana “N” and two other men.
For its part, the Government of Guerrero detailed that “elements of the Ministry of Public Security, Sedena and the National Guard managed to secure the alleged aggressors, who will be made available to the corresponding authorities.”
Meanwhile, the Secretary of Citizen Security of Taxco, Guerrero, accused the minor’s mother of “omission of care.”
It must be noted that we cannot judge because seeing it from the point of view, there was a maternal responsibility and there is an omission, because if I, as a father, have a child, I must supervise him, guide him and guide him. Here the mother supposedly let the girl out without noticing her, without the pertinent security measures because she said that the person who died was her friend,” the official said in an interview with Foro TV.
