Four people were held hostage at the nightclub in Ede for several hours. One person has been arrested.

– The last hostage has just been released. One person has been arrested, the police in the Gelderland province wrote on X at 12:43.
The man was ordered to his knees and arrested, wrote the Dutch channel NOS, which was at the scene. A video from the scene shows that the man was wearing a black balaclava.
It is about a man in his 20s, who has previously been convicted. The Dutch newspaper writes that The Telegraph.
Just before the man was taken out, another man wearing an orange jacket was escorted out of the room, according to the newspaper.

Three hostages released
Earlier, three hostages were released. A video of the release shows three clearly affected young people being escorted by police with their hands behind their heads.
– The employees at the club are being held hostage, said the owner of the club The Telegraph.
The police did not say how many were held hostage, but several Dutch newspapers reported that there were a total of four hostages.
Mayor René Verhulst of Ede said he is thinking of the hostages and their families.
– A horrible situation for these people. I hope that this situation is resolved quickly and safely, Verhulst said in one statement at 12 o’clock.
The police went to the nightclub “Café Petticoat” at 6.30 on Saturday morning, according to NOS.
According to the newspaper AD there were messages on social media from people inside, who said they were allowed to eat, drink and go to the toilet.

Large-scale police action
There was a massive police presence at the scene with special forces and a bomb squad. A resident AD spoke to said that there was a sniper stationed on the roof.
Since 7.30 people were encouraged to stay indoors.
– We are investigating exactly what is going on. At the present time, it is not possible to go out with details about what is happening for the sake of people’s safety, said police officer Simon Klok at the scene to the AP news agency.

Klok confirmed that the hostage situation took place at the nightclub called Café Petticoat. On the night of Saturday they had an event from 11pm to 4am, according to the club’s own Facebook event.
The owner of a neighboring club spoke up NOS that he and his employees were stopped and investigated by the police already at 05.15 on Saturday morning.
Several evacuated
150 homes were evacuated as a result of the hostage situation. Shops in the city center also had to remain closed.
Ede is a city with around 120,000 inhabitants according to Wikipedia and is located in the middle of the Netherlands, around 40 minutes east of Utrecht by car.
