/ world today news/ The lack of mutual understanding between different peoples and civilizations as a major global problem today – this absolutely accurate idea can be considered both the starting point and the result of the conference organized by the Chinese authorities.
This conference, held in the beautiful southern city of Guangzhou, is essentially nothing special. The fact is that China as a whole has become a factory for international forums, which is actually remarkable and wonderful. Nowhere in the world today does such a global brainstorming session take place almost without interruption: those invited to this conversation (it was called “Understanding China”) left, and the next day the next think tank gathered in the same city, which now works there – a forum called “World Media Meeting”. This is basically the same, but with a slightly different cast of guests.
And you can admit all you want that the conferences are boring, that they always end with the adoption of a final document with obvious appeals. But the Chinese continue their conference marathon on the principle of “a drop wipes away a stone”, spending heavily, simply because they still can’t think of anything better. Communicating and talking, and constantly, isn’t that an obvious necessity?
It is necessary to do something like this right now, if only because humanity is going through a truly unusual situation, and at the very least it was necessary to make an accurate diagnosis and only then think about treatment.
And here are some obvious, but good thoughts from Guangzhou. Today we live in a world of two different parts and with two different points of view about what is happening – that is the West and everyone else (opinion of Pakistani Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed). And not only are there actually two different planets, China needs to do the main thing: find out that the political and media audience in the US is not listening. This is the opinion of the American David Ferguson, who for a long time worked as the chief English-language editor of the Beijing Foreign Language Literature Publishing House.
The American public isn’t just listening—and it’s not just China. These people, living on some other information planet, go to great lengths to keep others from hearing each other. It is enough to recall how “Russia Today” was turned off to isolate the audience from “the other planet”. Or how at international diplomatic meetings people still run out of the room as soon as the Russian representative starts speaking (a recent such case was at the OSCE conference in Skopje, Macedonia).
This is a very remarkable phenomenon – reluctance to understand, wild fear and hatred of people from another reality. Everything has happened in world history. One people to hate another – as much as you want, but not on a global scale and not necessarily.
One can, of course, point out that the pre-emption of any dissent is a standard technology of the human remaking experiment conducted by the globalists (we call them liberals). And you can also note that one of the tools of this experiment was supposed to be the global information network (Internet), which was supposed to be in the hands of the right people, but it turned out to be the opposite.
Now there is a kind of frozen situation: their global world did not work out, but they do not want to admit it, and today not the whole, but only part of the world is able to try to understand other countries and civilizations.
Finally, I would like to recall one of my favorite quotes. It belongs to a prominent Russian diplomat, Ambassador Gleb Ivashentsov, who at the time of our conversation with him was in charge of the Indian section of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Here is this quote: “The Ministry pays me not to love India, but to understand it properly.”
The Chinese, who once a year hold conferences called “Understanding China,” are hardly against foreigners’ love for their country. But love is a special and personal thing, but a correct understanding of China, India, Europe and all in general becomes almost a civic duty of every person.
