Chamber music concert “Musical parallels”

March 10 17:00, SundayAlytus Cultural Center, small hall

Oksana Protas (violin, Ukraine)

Marija Mirovska (piano, Lithuania)

The program presented by Oksana Protas combines unique works for solo violin, violin and accompanying piano with chamber music for violin and piano duet. The concert will feature works by Lithuanian and Ukrainian composers.

Almost all of the pieces in the program were created in the 20th century and introduce listeners to the various musical styles characteristic of this era, from romantic music to modern compositional techniques.

The composers’ use of stylization deserves special attention – first of all, they refer to the folk motifs of their nation as a source of inspiration in their work.

In “Fantasia” solo violin Andrij Štogarenko rises to the level of true nationalism, the composer perfectly masters a rich palette of expressive tools, enriched not for constructive, but for conceptual and figurative tasks.

Vytautas Barkauskas, as a representative of a completely different style, is one of the leading masters of contemporary musical culture in Lithuania. This was most clearly revealed in the leading genre of the 1960s – chamber music, where, together with modern compositional techniques, it is interesting to see the neoclassical tendencies (clear constructivity, transparency) and polyphonic principles characteristic of this period.
When Viktor Kosenko wrote the violin sonata, he entered Ukrainian music culture primarily as a master of lyrical works, his work is filled with romantic intonations of Slavic music and folk songs.

The event is free (with invitations)
