Ecuador-China FTA will enter into force on May 1 – 2024-03-30 12:41:22

The Free Trade Agreement between Ecuador and China will enter into force on May 1. This was stated by the Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries, Sonsoles Garcíatoday, Thursday, March 14 during the II International Congress of Women in Foreign Trade – Resilience and Challenges which was organized by the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor).

This anouncement if it happens almost a month later that the president of the Republic, Daniel Noboa, issued, on February 15, the Executive Order 166 to stopratify all the content of the trade agreement signed between Ecuador and China in May 2023 by former president Guillermo Lasso and which was also ratified by the National Assembly.

The official also told the newspaper The universe that “it would occur in approximately 90 days, which coincides with next May” and explained “that after the ratification of the president of the Republic of Ecuador, the agreement is delivered to be sent through diplomatic channels to the People’s Republic of China. After this ratification process by both countries, the agreement comes into force in 60 days.
