Madrid, Spain / world today news/ Drawings found in caves near the city of Nerja, Spain, are the most ancient rock images made by man.
The find is also unique because they belong to the Neanderthal hand. A team of specialists led by José Luis Sanchidrian of the University of Córdoba studied six images of seals made with charcoal. Radiocarbon analysis of charcoal that was found near the “art gallery” shows that it is 42.3 to 43.5 thousand years old. Previously, the most ancient rock paintings were considered to be those found in Chauvet Cave in France, which are 32 thousand years old.But drawings made by Neanderthals have not been found until now.
