the essentials This Saturday, March 30, the Unified Carnival of Toulouse celebrates diversity and conviviality with a large colorful and festive parade. Here’s everything you need to know about the big parade.
On Saturday March 30 in Toulouse, the big Cocus Parade will put Toulouse in turmoil. Organized by the Unified Carnival Organizing Committee (COCU), the parade is a call for collective celebration, inviting young and old to join in a festivity that transcends ages and origins. We tell you everything you need to know about the big parade.
What time do the festivities start?
At 7:30 p.m., at Arnaud Bernard, the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, will hand over the keys to the city to the president of the Unified Carnival Organizing Committee (COCU). This moment will mark the official departure of the procession. For those who are more impatient, it is possible, from 6:30 p.m., to discover the floats and parading ensembles of the Toulouse 2024 carnival.
What is the parade route?
The procession will therefore set off from Arnaud-Bernard at 7:30 p.m. The parade will travel along Boulevard de Strasbourg to Jean-Jaurès, before ending on the ramblas where the finale will take place, around 10:30 p.m., followed by a ball until 11:45 p.m.
What does the finale involve?
It’s a “West Indian carnival” style finale. At the end of the parade, the musicians of Mundo Kanaval and Fanfarnaüm will perform funk and Brazilian music – samba reggae and axe, before being joined by the West Indian groups Bagass Perkisyon and Twopical All Stars and the dancers of Meu Brasil for a final Caribbean carnival with more than a hundred participants!
In which sector is traffic prohibited?
To ensure the smooth running of the event, several measures are taken. The streets along the route will be closed to traffic and parking from Friday March 29 at 8 p.m. until Saturday March 30 at midnight. Some metro stations, such as Compans Caffarelli, Jeanne d’Arc and Jean Jaurès, will be closed from 6 p.m. to midnight on Saturday. Diversions will be in place for several bus lines from 1 p.m. that day.

What is the dress code?
Last year was a special year for COCU. After a three-year hiatus, he signed his grand tour. To mark the occasion, participants and spectators were invited to dress in pink. This year, do it again. The city will be truly pink.
Why has the number of tanks decreased?
This edition is also marked by awareness of its ecological impact. Virtuous, the COCU reduces the number of motorized tanks. Instead, the parade will be punctuated by a profusion of percussion.
In the event of bad weather, the event is postponed to the next day, Sunday March 31, at the same times and on the same route.
