Folk artist Jaakko Teppo died aged 71 in February. Now the death notice of the musician originally from Iceland has been published in Karjalainen.
The death notice has been signed by Tepo’s relatives, including Irmeli– wife and grown sons Ilya and Johannes. The next of kin have written a touching text on the death notice.
– One day the wind will blow away the clouds, the sun will come out. One day our grief will be easier to bear, the inscription reads.
– Thank you to all those who supported us in our grief, the relatives thank you at the bottom of the death notice.

Teppo became known as a couplet singer and folk artist of the entire nation. In his musical production, his home region and rural culture are on display. He also took a stand on social issues with his satirical texts. Teppo was left-wing in his views, which was reflected in the production.
The musician’s most famous songs were among others Pamela, On ice, Hilma and Onni mixed The Frog Prince. In 1995, Teppo had a cerebral infarction, which affected his ability to cope with his own work. He later retired.
In 2022, Tepo was awarded the Finland Award of the Ministry of Education and Culture. the arguments emphasized how he brought joy to people’s lives for more than three decades. In his career, he managed to do more than 5,000 gigs, drive two million gig kilometers and sell more than 600,000 records.
