Karina Herrera speaks out against the attack against the MP prosecutor – Publinews – 2024-03-29 16:15:34

Last Wednesday, March 27, an armed attack was recorded near the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGSS) in zone 9 of Guatemala City. The attack was against prosecutor Miriam Regueros Sosa, who was traveling in the company of family members. In this regard, the vice president of the Republic of Guatemala spoke out about the event.

Likewise, the Public Ministry (MP) emphasized that they are carrying out the corresponding investigations. The Prosecutor’s Office against the Crime of Femicide explained that it is processing the scene and is investigating the incident.

Special prosecutor Mirian Reguero, a member of a unit in charge of verifying cases with delayed investigations, was injured in the attack.

For her part, the vice president spoke through her official account on the social network X to show her support for the prosecutor’s management.

“Solidarity and strength to the prosecutor Miriam Reguero and to the families affected at this time,” Herrera commented on that platform.

The Public Ministry also regretted what happened and condemned the systematic attacks against its prosecutors: “these range from the constant violation of their human rights, as well as those of their relatives on social networks, to violent acts like the one recorded today. These despicable acts will not go unpunished,” they concluded.
