Murder in Rome, searches found weapons and a severed finger

(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 19 – A severed finger in an envelope and immersed in a liquid. It is the macabre discovery made by the police as part of searches carried out by the police as part of the investigation by the Rome DDA which in recent days led to the issuance of precautionary measures for three people accused of being the instigators of an attempted murder which occurred in the Morena area in February 2023 and the murder of Andrea Fiore which occurred the following March in the Quadraro area. The discovery was made by the police in 2022 inside a room that was also used by the gang for the storage of narcotics and weapons. From the precautionary custody order emerges a cross-section of the violence with which some fringes of the Capitoline crime “operate”. The arrests were also achieved thanks to the collaboration of a repentant man who provided useful information to the investigators. In the proceedings the crimes of criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, murder, kidnapping of people and injuries are contested. All cases aggravated by the mafia method. During the searches, coordinated by Deputy Ilaria Calò and Mario Palazzi, “numerous weapons, a cleaver” as well as “rifles with sawed off barrels and a home-made artisanal machine gun and 8 thousand euros in cash” were also found. The investigation documents also reveal some episodes regarding how the criminal group operated and the modus operandi which involved torture and mutilation. The kidnapping of a young woman is mentioned by the investigating judge: a blitz coordinated by the leader of the gang, known as ‘uncle’, who gave orders via video phone call, including that of “cutting the finger” of the victim. “I remember that boy started crying – the justice collaborator told the investigators – and he asked to be shot in the leg instead of being mutilated”. In the precautionary requirements, the judge states that the organization has shown “a marked delinquent nature and a high level of professionalism in the management of the crime. The suspects have demonstrated that they resort to violence (implementing leg movements and suggesting finger mutilations), being able to resort to weapons of at his disposal”. (HANDLE).
