The growing divide between Vilnius and the regions of Central and Western Lithuania deepens the country every year
social and economic problems. This is also noticeable from the different scale of startups. In order to
to encourage technological centers to undertake activities that would help create suitable conditions for development
for start-ups and the development of their product ideas was promoted, Acceleration of Startups and
incubation program 2024-2026. It will be implemented after receiving funding from the Innovation Agency
Lithuanian financial technology and sustainable innovation center “Rockit”, it is written in the report
to the media.
According to Lina Žemaitytė-Kirkman, head of the center, this project aims at the Middle and the West
To create favorable conditions for startups in the Lithuanian region to create and promote the development of product ideas
through hackathons. It also intends to provide incubation and acceleration services for the region
for active young technology companies. It is expected that during the three years of the program, Western and
At least 60 new start-ups will appear in Central Lithuania.

In Kaunas and Klaipėda – special spaces for startups During the Startup Acceleration and Incubation Program 2024-2026, it is intended to implement several main tasks, among which is the organization of various stages of startup program cycles, from the earliest to the readiness to attract capital. It is also intended to organize business and science intensives: this will aim to commercialize scientific solutions and promote the creation of a science-friendly business.
As foreseen in the project strategy, “Rockit” will open its doors in Kaunas and Klaipėda in the near future.
Representations of the Innovation Center. Each of them will be equipped with spaces for the incubation of start-ups: approx
20 workplaces, space for events, etc. These co-creation spaces are for the young and only
emerging technology companies will be given the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience not only from
Lithuanian and foreign experts, applying them in practice.
“Our activity started from the capital, where we have experience in successfully solving such innovations
ecosystem problems in financial technology and sustainable innovation communities in the Vilnius region.
During our five years of operation, we have accelerated startups in these communities and grown their ecosystem.
We will try to use our experience and good practices to strengthen the rest of Lithuania
startups”, asserts the head of Rockit.
Will use the successful example of Vilnius
The project implementers point out that with the help of the proven “Rockit” ecosystem in Vilnius
creation model, the long-term impact of the project will be ensured.
“Even after the end of this project, the values and achievements created during it will remain: regional startups,
other actors in the ecosystem will maintain mutual connections, inspiration and knowledge of how to create and develop
innovations, activities promoting entrepreneurship, events, etc. All this will lead to a strengthening of the Middle and West
Lithuania’s entrepreneurial gene and growing economic potential,” assures L. Žemaitytė, manager of Rockit.

The first startup applications are waiting
From now on, startups operating in Central and Western Lithuania can participate in Rockit
in the startup acceleration program. For this, company representatives must fill out a special application. Attention
it will award those young companies that create a positive impact in cutting-edge fields,
such as artificial intelligence, financial technology and blockchain, energy consumption
efficiency, renewable energy resources, Internet of Things, intelligent transport systems and
kt.
Selected companies will cooperate with experienced mentors, investors and market experts from
Lithuanian and foreign companies. The first event for startups in the region is a thematic hackathon
– will happen already in April.
