Paris Saint-Germain defeated Sweden’s Hacken 5-1 on aggregate, and Barcelona defeated its Norwegian rival, Brann, 5-2 on aggregate, to reach the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions League.
Paris Saint-Germain will play Olympique Lyonnais, which beat Benfica 6-2 on aggregate, in an all-French semi-final, while Barcelona faces its rival Chelsea, which beat Ajax Amsterdam 4-1 on aggregate, in a repeat of the 2021 final, which it won. The Spanish team 4-0.
After leading 2-1 in the first leg in Gothenburg, Paris Saint-Germain increased its advantage with a goal from Tabitha Chawinga in the first half, and the French team added two more goals after the break to achieve a comfortable 3-0 victory over Hacken.
Barcelona, the defending champion, thwarted Brann’s brave resistance, winning 3-1 at home and 5-2 on aggregate.
Aitana Bonmatti opened the scoring with a wonderful goal in the first half, and Fredolina Rulfo added the second goal in the 56th minute, after great work by her Norwegian colleague Caroline Graham-Hansen.
Brann succeeded in reducing the difference through 18-year-old substitute Tomine Svendheim, but Hansen shone and set up the third goal for Patricia Gigarro, bringing Barcelona to the semi-finals.
