/ world today news/ On December 8, the UN Security Council voted on the draft resolution submitted by the United Arab Emirates for the immediate implementation of a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Among the 15 member countries of the Security Council, 13 voted in favor, Britain abstained, and the United States vetoed, since the United States is a permanent member of the Security Council and has the right to veto, the draft resolution was not adopted.

During the Security Council discussions, US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Robert Wood said the US “does not support” a ceasefire at this time.
