Bandung City Takes Action Against Dengue Fever with Mosquito Nest Eradication Activities

He conveyed this when reviewing Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) activities in RW 06, Cijerah Village, Bandung Kulon, Bandung City, Friday 29 March 2024.

“DHF is closely related to concern for the environment. That’s why I assigned Asda 1 and the staff, the Health Office as well as the Education Office, as well as regional officials to carry out treatment. Starting from the prevention aspect to treatment,” said Bambang.

He is optimistic that the number of dengue fever in Bandung City from year to year can be reduced if the entire community is equally aware of the importance of a clean lifestyle.

Apart from that, Bambang also reminded all the people of Bandung City to be more proactive and not hesitate to take their family members who experience dengue fever symptoms to the Puskesmas or health service facilities. One indicator is fever for more than 2 days.

Bambang stated that the Bandung City Government had also made a number of efforts to handle dengue cases. Among other things, by carrying out PSN simultaneously in 151 sub-districts starting Saturday 29 March 2024 and forming the one house one jumantik movement.

Bambang said that the city of Bandung has 7,450 jumantik in every house. And this number will continue to grow.

“We want the city of Bandung to be healthier, cleaner. Not just because there is a spike in cases. We want this cleanliness to become a lifestyle for Bandung residents,” said Bambang.

“If we look at the period of time, dengue fever cases occur every December to March or April. Every year it’s like that. Because the pattern is like that, we can take anticipatory and mitigation steps,” he said.

Data from the Bandung City Health Service shows that as of March 27 2024, the dengue fever figure has reached 2,215 cases. Therefore, on several occasions, the Head of the Bandung City Health Service (Dinkes), Anhar Hadian, reminded residents to increase their vigilance.

He reminded the people of Bandung City to always ensure that their places of residence and activities are free from mosquito larvae. Apart from that, he also advised that if a family member at home has a fever, immediately access the nearest health facility.

“Making sure your house is larvae-free is actually easy. And if a family member has a fever, don’t wait until it gets worse. Access public health services immediately,” said Anhar.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of RW 06, Cijerah Village, Kosim Masykuri, also supports a clean lifestyle as an effort to handle and prevent dengue fever, especially in RW 06, Cijerah Village.

He also explained that as of March 29 2024, there had been 5 cases of dengue fever in his area. Most cases of dengue fever affect children who suffer from it.

“We also need to identify whether those affected by dengue fever are from schools or from our environment. But basically, maintaining cleanliness is also a strong supporting factor in reducing dengue fever numbers,” said Kosim.

“Not every area can be visited by the Acting Mayor. We are grateful to receive attention from the City Government. We hope that our people will also be more enthusiastic about improving cleanliness,” he concluded. (ray)**
