New York City Launches “Jobs NYC” Tool to Connect New Yorkers to Job Opportunities

What you should know

  • New York City launched a new tool to help New Yorkers looking for a new opportunity get jobs.
  • Is about “Jobs NYC,” a new, multi-pronged, citywide effort to reduce barriers to economic opportunity and deliver workforce development services directly to communities across the five boroughs experiencing high unemployment. This tool helps connect New Yorkers to job and training opportunities.
  • The collaborative effort will focus on two other key pillars: modernizing the administration’s “hiring rooms” in an effort to bring public and private job opportunities and professional services to economically disadvantaged communities on a monthly basis in each county and continuing to reform the Minimum Employment Requirements City rating to make certain entry-level jobs within city government more accessible.

Is about “Jobs NYC,” a new, multi-pronged, citywide effort to reduce barriers to economic opportunity and deliver workforce development services directly to communities across the five boroughs experiencing high unemployment. This tool helps connect New Yorkers to job and training opportunities.

The collaborative effort will focus on two other key pillars: modernizing the administration’s “hiring rooms” in an effort to bring public and private job opportunities and professional services to economically disadvantaged communities on a monthly basis in each county and continuing to reform the Minimum Employment Requirements City rating to make certain entry-level jobs within city government more accessible.

“While we have much to celebrate about the recovery of all private sector jobs lost during the pandemic (more than a year ahead of schedule), our recovery has not been equitable and has not yet reached all New Yorkers. That’s why we are doing everything we can to make sure New York City remains a city for the working class,” said Mayor Adams.

Working across nearly two dozen city agencies, as well as partnering with community organizations and private partners, the Adams administration will revamp the already popular hiring halls. Not only will these hiring halls be held monthly in each borough in areas of the city experiencing employment disparities, but in addition to connecting New Yorkers with job opportunities in the municipal workforce, these events will now provide job seekers with a unique opportunity to collaborate with multiple organizations, including employers interviewing for positions and community organizations connecting talent to training and other opportunities.

To offer job and training opportunities throughout the city, the Adams administration also launched the talent portal andn online Jobs NYC, a free resource managed by the Mayor’s Office of Talent and Workforce Development and accessible through the MyCity portal that connects job seekers with career opportunities and free employment services and occupational skills training for opportunities in both the public sector as in private.
