Companies, universities and the US government invest more than $9 million in scholarships for Salvadorans – Diario La Página – 2024-03-28 16:43:17

The Salvadoran American Scholarship Program (SASP) celebrates its tenth anniversary of providing assistance to Salvadorans who wish to continue their university studies in the United States, where the Government, private companies and universities of that nation have allocated more than nine million dollars in scholarships.

This program is carried out by the United States Embassy and the Salvadoran American Cultural Center, which allows educational exchange on American soil for low-income Salvadorans.

Since 2013, SASP has left a significant mark on the lives of hundreds of Salvadoran students in their productivity, growth, and work experience.

In that sense, to date there are 407 students who have participated in the program and have returned to El Salvador with new perspectives and skills that they put into practice in their area of ​​development.

It was explained that during these ten years the United States embassy invested $671,160, Salvadoran universities and private companies $709,520, while American universities and companies invested $562,496 million. The scholarship recipients have specialized in software development and English language teaching methods.

Among the allied institutions are the Salvadoran universities: ICC-CCSA, UGB, UNICAES, UNIVO and UTEC. Additionally, there is support from Amity Institute, General UI, St. Cloud State University and the University of Mississippi, who provide study and internship opportunities to participants.
