Within the framework of the commemoration of “International Women’s Day”, the Judiciary recently handed over to the minister of the Court of Appeals of Rancagua, Bárbara Quintana Letelier, and the former first officer of the First Court of Letters of San Fernando, Rudecinda Sandoval García, the “Recognition of Outstanding Women in the Judiciary.”
The president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Ricardo Blanco Herrera, together with the minister and person in charge of gender affairs of the highest court, Andrea Muñoz Sánchez, led from the Hall of Honor of the Palace of Courts and in connection via zoom with all the courts of appeals in the country, this tribute to women from different levels of the 17 jurisdictions, the Supreme Court and the Administrative Corporation of the Judiciary, who were nominated by their peers for their work in promoting gender equality in the institution. In total, there were 37 women nationwide who received this recognition.
In Rancagua, the president of the appeal court, Minister Ricardo Pairicán García, participated in the activity; the Plenary Court; the minister in charge of the Gender and Non-Discrimination Committee of the jurisdiction, Marcela de Orúe Ríos; the members of the respective committee; and officials.
“For our Illustrious Court of Appeals it is an honor to deliver this recognition to two women from the Rancagua jurisdiction, who through actions within the Judiciary and links with the community or other institutions, have shown an unwavering commitment to breaking down these barriers. in pursuit of equality and creating greater and better spaces free of bias,” said the president of the appeal court, Minister Ricardo Pairicán, in his speech.
“It is very relevant that these initiatives are carried out within the Judiciary and that the work that the women of our institution carry out in this matter every day is recognized. As the Gender and Non-Discrimination Committee of the jurisdiction of Rancagua we have a commitment to the advancement and promotion of gender equality,” said the minister, Marcela de Orúe Ríos.
“It is an honor for me to receive this recognition that shows that our work and actions around ending spaces of discrimination to strengthen gender equality in the Judiciary are valued by the members of the courts of the jurisdiction and the Court Supreme. This motivates us to continue working in that direction,” said Minister Bárbara Quintana.
The former first official of the First Court of Letters of San Fernando, Rudecinda Sandoval, indicated after receiving the recognition that “it was a tremendous surprise when they told me that I had won this award. Within my career I tried to do the best I could. For me it is an enormous responsibility and I am proud of this recognition.”
