The Minister of Defense of Spain, Margarita Robles, made an appeal to the Spanish society, because he believes that it does not realize the “huge” danger that exists at the moment, due to the “total and absolute” threat from Russia to the European Union, writes El Mundo, quoted by FOCUS .
“Today, a ballistic missile from Russia could reach Spain,” Robles said.
“I would like to address the Spanish society, because sometimes I have the impression that we are not aware of the enormous danger that exists at the moment. And not only in Ukraine, but also in Gaza and in the Sahel,” she added.
Regarding the request to rearm the European Union by some of its leaders, Robles said that “the threat is total and absolute. One only has to listen to Putin’s recent statements in which he talks about the possibility of nuclear aggression.”
“Europe must realize that the danger is very close, this is not a pure hypothesis, it is real. The countries bordering Russia perceive it very well, maybe those of us who live in the south do not have this awareness” she added Robles.
“We must be fully aware that our democratic values and peace in Europe are at risk.”
“Supporting Ukraine means not only the protection of its territorial integrity, but also something much more important, namely peace and values that characterize democratic coexistence in Europe and which are clearly threatened by Putin,” the Spanish Minister of Defense also pointed out.
