Millionaire businessman Donald Trump could become the next Republican Party candidate for the United States presidential elections, competing on his third election day.
The former president managed to reach the number of delegates necessary to obtain the candidacy of the Republican Party in the elections that will be held in November of this year.
After the results of the primaries held in the states of Georgia, Mississippi and Washington this Tuesday, March 12, the group has 1,241 delegates. His party requires a minimum of 1,215 to qualify for the nomination.
Although the magnate is practically assured of the candidacy, he must still wait for the official support of the militants of his side at the next National Convention of the Republican Party, which will be held from July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee.
During the day this Tuesday, the Democrats also held primaries in these states, in addition to the Northern Mariana Islands. In his case, the results allowed the current US president, Joe Biden, to reach 2,107 delegates and, with this, exceed the minimum number of 1,968 required by his party to seek re-election.
Like Trump, Biden requires favorable support from his party at the Democratic National Convention, which will take place from August 19 to 22 in the city of Chicago.
This year’s election promises to be one of the most historic, marking the first presidential rematch since 1956, when Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower defeated Democrat Adlai Stevenson for the second time.

In the next electoral process, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania will be the key states for victory. In Georgia, Biden defeated Trump in 2020, by a close margin of just 0.23%.
In general, it is expected that the US will experience an intense electoral campaign full of attacks, as has already happened in the midst of the primaries of both parties.
Tension increases over the 2020 elections with the precedent of the theft accusations that Trump launched that year, and the subsequent attack on the Capitol by the Republican candidate’s followers.
This Tuesday, during a statement thanking voters, Biden warned about the threat that Trump represents to his country, accusing him of orchestrating a campaign of hate and retaliation that could put freedom and democracy at risk.
