The Minister of Social Affairs and Microfinance, Madame Véronique TOGNIFODÉ, took part, on February 29, 2024, in the 7th ordinary session of the Regional Steering Committee (RPC) of the SWEDD Project which was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso . This session, which usually brings together thirteen (13) countries, brings together the relevant Ministers, the Project Coordinators as well as the main partners involved in the technical implementation of the SWEDD Project such as the World Bank, UNFPA, etc.
The meeting of the steering committee, which is a platform for exchanges between countries and partners on the results achieved, the lessons learned and the constraints encountered in the context of crisis experienced by the region, was an opportunity to adopt the 2024 action plans. It made it possible to reaffirm the added value of cross-border interventions in the fight against the vulnerability of women and girls (inter-country exchanges at the highest level to take into account “hotspots” in the regions borders).
On the sidelines of the committee’s work, Minister Véronique TOGNIFODÉ had friendly exchanges with some of her counterparts from the beneficiary countries of the SWEDD project, present at the meeting. She also took part in an exchange session between the Head of State of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ and the participating Ministers.
The Government of Benin was particularly praised for its good management of the implementation of the SWEDD project, the results of which speak through its beneficiaries. At the end of the work, the governance bodies of the said Committee were renewed. Benin was elected to the position of Vice-President of the Regional Steering Committee of the SWEDD project.
