More than 400 people – local residents and representatives of Chinese immigration to Vietnam – awaited Xi Jinping and his accompanying delegation at Hanoi’s Nai Pai International Airport. They were welcomed by Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chin, Ministers of the Interior Pham Thi, Ministers of Foreign Affairs Bui Chan Shon and other state and party leaders.
After disembarking from the plane, Xi Jinping delivered a brief welcome speech in which he congratulated the hosts for the welcome, stating that relations with Vietnam are a priority for China. “I look forward to exchanging views with Vietnamese leaders on important issues of bilateral relations, as well as international and regional topics of mutual interest, and to promote bilateral ties together,” the Chinese leader said.
Xi Jinping was accompanied by his wife Peng Liyuen, CCP Secretariat chief Cai Qi, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong and other officials.
