The Municipality of Burgas has purchased electric bicycles in order to upgrade the services for ecological, accessible and comfortable movement within the city.
The price for renting one of these per hour will be BGN 2. The City Council is expected to accept the fee at its upcoming meeting at the end of the month.
„Experience shows that among the citizens and guests of the city there is an increased interest in using such means of transportation. Electric bicycles can be put into operation immediately, provided that a price is set for the service provided. It is planned to use the same through a mobile application“, are motivated by the administration.
The municipality says that the set goals are related to meeting the increased needs for quick access to distant points and sights of the city.
Thus, at the same time, heavy daily traffic is avoided and an opportunity for timely, environmentally friendly and relatively safe movement is ensured.
„The aim is to maintain the tendency to reduce the number of cars in the central part of the city and to achieve the effect of reducing harmful emissions from exhaust gases in the atmosphere, respectively a better quality of life. Through this type of easily accessible transport, a complete new look is given to the city, as an ecological center, offering its guests practical, convenient and up-to-date services aimed at relieving traffic and creating a comfortable and attractive living environment“, it is also written in the report.
