After 20 seasons on the air, the future of the successful medical series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is in an uncertain situation.
As the series approaches its 20th season, fans are wondering if this will be the final chapter in the Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital story.
In an interview with Deadline, Meg Marinis, who has been a part of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ for 18 years, revealed that she has not received any indication that season 20 will be the last.

With determination, Marinis has expressed: “I have not been informed that this is the last season, so I am going to keep going and telling stories as long as they let me.”
He continued: “We still have stories to tell. We received tremendous support from the studio, the network and Shondaland. So I’m going to keep going until they tell me to put down the pen.”
And he concluded: “I think the series is as strong creatively as it has always been,” he said. “Not just the live episodes you’re watching today, but it’s driving the growth of our streaming platform.”
Impact of the series
Craig Erwich, president of Disney’s television group that includes ABC Entertainment, has praised the creative quality of ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’
He highlighted that: “Right now we are really focused on the momentous 20th season of Grey’s Anatomy, which is still incredible to say and is incredible to celebrate.”
And he continued: “You will see that celebration on the air, both in terms of the stories that they are telling, which continue to be of the highest quality, and in the way that we celebrate a series that is so iconic and is so associated with ABC and that we are so honored to have. “He has helped define the network for the last 20 seasons.”
Penultimate season?
The 19th installment of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ was a season of significant changes. With the departure of Kelly McCreary, who played Dr. Maggie Pierce for several seasons, and the introduction of five new main characters, played by Harry Shum Jr., Adelaide Kane, Alexis Floyd, Niko Terho and Midori Francis, fans are excited. They asked how this transition would unfold.
However, the series managed to carry out this transformation successfully, as all the new cast members will return for season 20.
