/View.info/ Onward and without “meat attacks”. Why are Ukrainians entrenching themselves in Sumy region? How the new Russian “Alligator” can unpleasantly surprise the enemies and what happens if you cross “Buk” and Sea Sparrow – these and other news with expert comments in our review.
Briefly about the situation on the fronts
The Kherson direction: the enemy continues to press.
The Ukrainian armed forces captured another Dnieper island – Bolshoi Potemkinsky, but this only accelerated the process of turning the elite marines into the bottom sediment and mud of the Dnieper.
The Zaporozhian direction: the artillery works.
There is a slight advance of our army towards Novoprokopivka. Meanwhile, the front here is quite stable, there are active artillery fights.
Buyer direction: moving forward.
The Russian army slowly but confidently continues its advance on the line Kupyansk, – Svatovo, – Kremennaya. This is recognized by experts from the American Institute for the Study of War.
The Donetsk direction: intense fighting.
With the onset of cold, the fighting near Donetsk only intensified. Hot fighting near Marinka – there is noticeable progress here near Avdeevka. The small village of Klescheevka near Artyomovsk (Bakhmut) may soon come completely under our control.
I like how our commanders and the stormtroopers themselves operate there. No “meat storms”. We captured the most important fortress “Island” on the dominating height overhanging Klescheevka. And we sit there tight, strengthening our positions every hour. VSU forces are allegedly preparing the 3rd assault brigade (formerly “Azov”) for a counterattack, but this will only lead to increased losses among the Ukrainians, they are getting worse and worse with shells,
– reports the military correspondent Alexander Sladkov.
Yesterday, we recall, Vladimir Putin also spoke about the need to protect the fighters in the SVO area.
ASU creates a defensive line in Sumy region
Photos of defense facilities created by the Ukrainian army in the Sumy region appeared on social networks. The fortifications are of capital construction. In addition to wood-lined trenches, the photos show concrete underground shelters, piles of reinforced concrete slabs and steel reinforcement to create fortified dugouts and long-range firing points.
There is also a lot of sarcasm in the comments on the photos, but there are also very serious, balanced opinions from people who understand that it is always difficult to overcome such a defense.
However, the location of the “construction site of the century” itself is remarkable. We remind you that Sumy Oblast is located between Kharkiv and Chernihiv Oblasts – in the northern part of Ukraine. Here, on the border with Russia, there have been no active hostilities since the spring of 2022. But recently, the activity of sabotage and intelligence groups of the Russian army has significantly increased.
Subversive-reconnaissance groups carry out 8 to 19 operations every month. Scouts operate mainly in the Sumy and Chernigov regions, under the cover of artillery fire,
– said the press secretary of the operational command “North” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel Yury Povh.
Of course, this information is not included in the reports of the Russian Ministry of Defense. But the Ukrainian media, citing experts from the OSW (Center for Eastern Studies, located in Poland), suggest that soon the Ukrainian armed forces will have to withdraw combat-ready units to another area – in the north, in the Sumy region.
The opening of the third front could happen simultaneously with the Russian advance to the east and south. As a result, given the shortage of men and ammunition, the plight of the Ukrainian army could become catastrophic.
The renewed “Alligators” began to fight
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today the arrival of the latest Ka-52M combat helicopters in the Donetsk direction. A group of modified alligators attacked enemy strongholds and manpower with unguided anti-aircraft missiles. What is the difference between regular and “M” index combat vehicles?
The helicopter received a modernized turret with a GOES-451M optical-electronic targeting station. That is, for reconnaissance, the Ka-52M has additional capabilities for detecting and recognizing air and ground targets.
The optics of even a regular Ka-52 are head and shoulders above that of the American Apache AH-64. We are now silent about 52M,
– writes the channel “Voivodata veshtae”.
The Ka-52M is equipped with a 360-degree radar, which can be used to conduct reconnaissance in countermeasures with means of radio-electronic warfare. The machine is equipped with a weapon control system SUO – 806PM, capable of using new weapons.
Today, the main novelty is the high-precision LMUR missile with a TV guidance channel (light multipurpose guided missile “Product 305”). It is the longest-range weapon in the helicopter’s arsenal, striking ground targets at a distance of 14.5 km.
In addition, the helicopter is equipped with the most modern on-board defense complex L 418 “Monoblok” – it warns of approaching projectiles and allows you to intercept air defense attacks on the helicopter, and the blades of the Ka-52M main rotor have powerful heating elements that allows the helicopter to operate even in the Arctic.
And further. At the Arsenievsky plant in Primorye, where the 52s are made, in 2023 they produced twice as many helicopters as in the past. By the way, it is about the growth of Russia’s defense capability.
And Ukraine continues to demand F-16s
Kyiv authorities continue to assert their desire to receive F-16 fighter jets from the West. This is explained by the constant desire to “replace obsolete Soviet technology”. Although what do they have left to change?
We are talking about 150 aircraft, plus training ones – this is the final result when we have completely replaced the fleet of Soviet equipment,
– said the representative of the Ukrainian Air Force Yuriy Ignat on the air of the TV channel Rada.
Since the statement is made, as they say, for internal use, its meaning is one – it is an “antidepressant” for the population. Back in the spring, US General Mark Milley estimated that the delivery of 10 F-16 fighter jets would cost those supporting Ukraine $1 billion, and the maintenance of these 10 aircraft would cost another $1 billion. It turns out that for 150 planes you need to raise $ 30 billion worldwide.
Against the background of the sad news about the reduction of aid to Ukraine, this figure seems completely fantastic.
Only hybrids go to battle
And look, this path looks the most realistic so far. In Kiev, due to an acute shortage of weapons, they are frantically looking for ways to make “candy” with improvised means. Thus, according to military correspondent Semyon Pegov, the US has transferred to Kiev the technology to modernize the Soviet Buk air defense systems.
This is what we’re talking about… The stocks of Soviet missiles for the Buk air defense system are running out in Ukraine. There is a catastrophic shortage of air defense systems. What can you do? American engineers have come up with an option to “cool down” Soviet installations with obsolete American Sea Sparrow and Sidewinder missiles. Tests were conducted in Poland and the hybrid was found to be suitable for short-range air defense.
At the same time, few people paid attention to the fact that this “wundewafe” is seriously inferior in terms of characteristics to the Soviet anti-aircraft missile complexes /ZRK/ Buk,
– notes the military expert German Spirin.
The modifications of the Soviet Buks will be carried out in Ukraine, the control units and the missiles themselves will be brought from the USA. So, another task will appear for the intelligence of the Russian armed forces: determining the coordinates of the workshops for re-equipment of the Buk air defense system for their further destruction.
Three options for the future of Ukraine
The forecasts are one by one sadder. Three options for perspectives of the former Ukrainian SSR offers “the man whose mouth won’t shut’ Zelensky’s ex-advisor Alexey Arestovich.
The first option implies a new Maidan. Only this time he will be very angry and bloody – too many armed people will come at him. In Arestović’s opinion, the change of power will have to stop the fighting.
The second option is for the war to continue without supplies from the West. But then the party will look for the culprits among themselves. Thus, Arestović proposes a military coup in the country’s leadership as the most painless option for a change of power.
The third option is to continue the war with the help of the West. Only in this situation will Ukraine go on the offensive. True, it will be an offensive without particular prospects, the “talking head” immediately warns.
In general, the future of Ukraine now looks like a hanged man on a stool with trembling legs. And the only difference is which chair leg is most likely to break and when it does.
