Special prosecutor Hurr to testify before House committee in Biden case – 2024-03-15 15:56:03

Robert Howthe special prosecutor who questioned the age and competence of the president of USAJoe Biden, will testify this Tuesday before the House of Representatives. Hurr reported on how Biden handled classified documents after his years as vice president.

Hur will appear before the Judiciary Committee to answer and clarify questions from Republicans and Democrats alike about his 345-page report released last month in which he concluded that Biden should not face criminal charges for his handling of confidential government information when he was vice president.

What does special counsel Hur say about the Biden case?

Hur will say, preparedly, that he was aware of the need to explain why he decided not to impeach Biden. These explanations are common, but they are usually confidential, which has not happened in this highly relevant case.

“The need to show my work was especially important in this case,” he points out in his statement. “The Attorney General had appointed me to investigate the actions of the Attorney General’s boss, the current president of the United States. He knew that for my decision to be credible I couldn’t just announce that he recommended against filing criminal charges and leave it at that. I had to explain the reason.”

The prosecutor also warned that he will not discuss the investigation process or deviate from the content of the report, stating that “the evidence and the president himself called his memory into question.”

As Hur himself noted, Biden claimed that he did not remember finding any classified material in his house after his time as vice president, nor having told his ghostwriter that he had found “classified things downstairs.”

“My assessment in the report about the relevance of the president’s memory was necessary, precise and fair. More importantly, what I wrote is what I believe the evidence shows and what I hope the jury will perceive and believe. “I did not soften my conclusions but I also did not unfairly discredit President Biden,” he states.
