Tripartite Summit of Poland, Germany and France on the war in Ukraine – 2024-03-15 11:22:10

Its leaders Polandher Germany Ms of France will meet on Friday in Berlin for an emergency summit dedicated to Ukraine, as announced by the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

“On Friday, I will be in Berlin with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to discuss the situation,” Tusk said in an interview with public television channel TVP Info broadcast yesterday evening, Tuesday.

Tusk and Polish President Andrzej Duda were received in Washington yesterday by US President Joe Biden, whose administration has shown, despite the blockade in Congress, its support for Ukraine by announcing new military aid to Kiev.

The tripartite summit will come at a time when Franco-German relations appear weakened following the Ukraine row.

Poland, one of Kiev’s staunchest allies, has repeatedly called on its Western partners to increase spending on military aid to counter the Russian invasion.

Poland, which now has a new pro-European government, is trying to strengthen cooperation with Berlin and Paris vis-à-vis Moscow.

“In my view, these three capitals have the duty and the power to mobilize the whole of Europe” to provide new aid to Ukraine, Tusk estimated.
