The Southeast Drenthe region has been hit by a series of car fires since the beginning of this year. At least four cars also went up in flames last night, writes RTV Drenthe.
Around 2:20 am the fire brigade responded to a burning car in New Amsterdam. Almost at the same time there was a hit in Erica, about 5 kilometers away. Half an hour later, a van was on fire in Klazienaveen, followed by a car fire in a parking lot in Emmen.
The police investigated four locations. The partially or completely burned out cars have been cordoned off with police tape for trace evidence. No one has been arrested.
Series of fires
The area has been dealing with car fires for some time. In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, three cars went up in flames in New Amsterdam, Erica and Erm.
Four cars also burned out at the carpool place at the Boerdijk along the A37 this year. In the New Amsterdam region, the counter now stands at eleven car fires this year.
The police previously said they were investigating the series of fires. “A connection cannot be ruled out, but it cannot be said with certainty that all fires are related,” a spokesperson told the regional broadcaster this week.
