“While the European directive is a first – important politically, insufficient in substance – step to combat the phenomenon of tax havens, there is a risk that Greece will become a separate tax haven within Europe for very specific categories of companies”, stressed the Nikos Pappas during the discussion of the bill of the Ministry of Finance for the “establishment of a minimum level of taxation of multinational companies”. He also called on the leadership of the ministry “to prove that it does not have in mind to make Greece a tax haven for the few and that it does not have as the only criterion for the performance of the economy the performance of the stock market indices, with the listed ones registering 10, 5 billion euros in profits”.

Regarding the proposals of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance for taxation, Nikos Pappas underlined: “Say openly that you disagree with the new tax scale we propose, which eases all incomes below 100 thousand euros. Say you’re against scrapping advance tax and reducing rental rates for small properties.’
