Israel Rejects Hamas Truce Proposal in Gaza Strip, Calls Demands ‘Unrealistic’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that a new truce proposal in the Gaza Strip presented by Hamas to mediators on Thursday is still based on “unrealistic demands.”

The statement stated that a statement on the matter would be submitted to the war cabinet and the expanded Council of Ministers on Friday.

Hamas said earlier on Thursday that it had presented to the mediators a comprehensive vision of a truce agreement.

Hamas explained that its vision for the truce agreement “is based on stopping the aggression against our people in Gaza and providing relief and aid to them, the return of the displaced to their places of residence, and the withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip.”

Hamas added in a statement that the vision also includes “its vision regarding the prisoner exchange file,” but it did not go into details.

Israel believes that 134 hostages are still in Gaza after the attack launched by Hamas on towns in southern Israel on October 7, which resulted in the killing of 1,200 people and the detention of 253 others.

Since then, Israel’s air, sea and land assault on besieged Gaza has killed more than 31,000 people and injured more than 72,880, according to health authorities in the Strip.
