Jakarta (ANTARA) – Member of Commission VI DPR Amin AK reminded the government to act firmly against social media (medsos) platforms if they are used for trade and transactions, because this violates Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023.
“When will there really be a separation between Tiktok Shop and TikTok. “Don’t let social media (social media) be used as a means for trading, if you want to trade you have to use e-commerce,” said Amin virtually at a hearing with the Ministry of Trade which was monitored online in Jakarta, Thursday.
Amin hopes that the government will take a firm stance against social media platforms that violate regulations. This is a form of government support for MSMEs.
“This is related to taking sides with producer MSMEs, this is also a matter of data protection,” said Amin.
Amin said Coordinating Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises Teten Masduki had also issued several warnings regarding alleged violations committed by a social media platform.
Therefore, Amin hopes that the government will not tolerate violations if social media platforms find violations of the Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023.
Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki previously said that the TikTok platform still does not comply with regulations in Indonesia because it is still carrying out buying and selling activities through its social media platform.
Teten said TikTok had not made a clear separation between its social media platform, TikTok, and its e-commerce platform, TikTok Shop.
Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023 is a regulation concerning Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance and Supervision of Business Actors in Trading Through Electronic Systems. This rule will come into effect on the date of promulgation, namely September 26 2023.
This Minister of Trade Regulation expressly prohibits it social commerce or social media for selling and making payment transactions and may only offer or promote goods and services.
Meanwhile, in a separate place, the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi is planning an agenda to meet TikTok in Indonesia in the near future, where one of the topics that will be discussed is data security.
“Later we can discuss what data security is like. Because of this, many people are suspicious, but we still have to see first,” said Minister of Communication and Information Budi at the Ministry of Communication and Information Office, Central Jakarta, Thursday.
Budi said that the meeting would not only discuss topics regarding data security, but also discuss more matters regarding the development of digital platforms in Indonesia.
One other topic that could potentially be discussed at the meeting is related TikTok Shop which is now back in operation after collaborating with e-commerce local Tokopedia.
