Bengaluru: In the CK Naidu Trophy under-23 cricket final, the umpire made a strange decision by giving out the wicketkeeper despite missing the catch. The controversial dismissal took place during the Karnataka-Uttar Pradesh final match. The mistake was made by the umpire CH Ravikand. After the video footage of the incident came out, there was widespread criticism on the social media. Discussions also arose about the quality of umpires in domestic cricket

Karnataka’s opening batsman Prakash Chaudhary had to leave the crease due to a wrong decision by the umpire. The batsman made a mistake in facing pacer Subham Mishraya’s hook ball. The ball rubs off the bat and towards the keeper. UP wicketkeeper Aradhya Yadav tried to catch the ball by diving. But the video clearly showed that the ball slipped from the glove and landed on the ground. The umpire did not pretend to see this and ruled out. Although the batsman said that the ball had fallen to the ground, Ravikand refused to reconsider the decision.
The final battle ended in a draw but Karnataka became the champions on the back of the first innings lead. Karnataka scored 358 runs in the first innings. In reply, Uttar Pradesh’s struggle ended with 139 runs.
