Sharjah 24:
The Department of Architectural Engineering at the College of Engineering at the University of Sharjah organized the engineering exhibition “Smart Campus: Artificial Intelligence Innovations in Developing Facilities and Infrastructure of University Buildings,” for master’s and final-year bachelor’s students, which displays a wide range of creative and innovative ideas with the aim of developing the university’s various facilities.
The exhibition was opened by Professor Dr. Hamid Majoul Al Nuaimi, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdul Wahab bin Muhammad, Dean of the College of Engineering, Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Maajal, Deputy Dean of the College of Engineering, and Professor Dr. Imad Mushtaha, Head of the Department of Architectural Engineering.
The exhibition included a large number of architectural designs by Master of Science in Architecture students and final year Bachelor’s students, as the University’s Department of Architecture works to inform and train students on the latest technologies used in the engineering and architectural field, so the department works to integrate artificial intelligence techniques into teaching and research courses. For undergraduate and graduate students with the aim of preparing them for the requirements of the future professional or academic labor market, the students used modern artificial intelligence techniques in their designs with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of the university’s various facilities and developing the infrastructure, making the campus more efficient and sustainable, in addition to ease of use for all.
The students presented a set of innovative designs, under the supervision of Dr. Arif Maqsoud and Dr. Aseel Ali Hussein, about smart parking lots by re-studying, designing, and analyzing movement within the university’s parking lots. The designs were characterized by providing the best parking solutions characterized by improving the efficiency of parking operations and reducing congestion. He also presented The students presented a number of designs on the university’s corridors and turned them into smart corridors that adapt to the needs of students and members of the teaching and administrative staff. The attendees also reviewed a set of designs on infrastructure and how to use artificial intelligence in redesigning it to enhance the facilities’ capabilities and enhance their efficiency in consuming and saving energy inside buildings.
