The El Salvador men’s national beach soccer team began training today prior to the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup 2024, which will take place from March 28 to 30, at the Costa del Sol stadium.
El Salvador, the United States, Switzerland and Morocco will participate in the event.
It is worth mentioning that among the new features of the call are Anderson Castro, Edward Castro and Edgar Alemar, as well as the presentation of the new goalkeeping coach, Fidel Mondragón.
According to strategist Rudis Gallo, this return to training is something expected after several months of being without activity, remembering that the San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games were the team’s last competition.
“We are returning to the arena after seven months of strike, now we are doing it with our mind set on the international Easter event. For us, this is positive to return to the training that we needed in a more selective way,” said the coach.
Regarding the planned program for these microcycles, Gallo assured that part of it will be trained in the capital and another at the main venue of the event.
“I am going to work with the boys in three microcycle processes at the Beach Soccer stadium, located in the Flor Blanca Sports Complex, and another three at the Costa del Sol stadium, where the competition will take place. We are going to do physical and strategy practices for that competition,” Gallo explained.
Regarding the return of some experienced players to the squad, Gallo said he was happy because they are elements that contribute something important to the team.
“Rubén Batres returns after being out of training for almost a year. He has done a separate preparation to be at the right weight for him and to be part of this selection. We are happy for his return, remembering how decisive he can be in decisive matches,” explained Rudis.
Like Batres, Agustín Ruiz is also back, who due to personal situations did not comply with some processes.
“Tin Ruiz was in a couple of processes last year, but due to personal situations he did not complete them. Now he returns and does it with a lot of energy, that excites us because we know that he is a key piece for this national team,” said the coach.
Regarding the new players, Gallo assured that at the moment there are three who are joining the team.
“We only bring three new players: cousins Anderson and Edward Castro, both from Barra de Santiago, as well as the addition of Edgar Alemar, who this season will play with the Arcoíris del Espino team,” commented the strategist.
