Young Mother Persia Marie Nelson Charged in Homicide Case of Missing Baby Found in Upstate New York Utility Tunnel

Persia Marie Nelson, young mother who posted on Facebook who was “drunk asf” (very drunk) hours before her missing baby was found, was charged as a suspect in the homicide in upstate New York.

Nelson, a 24-year-old Brooklyn (NYC) native, faces murder charges in the tragic death of Halo Branton, an 11-month-old baby who died after a search team found her in a utility tunnel at a planta General Electric (GE) in Schenectady (NY) with water near his head, according to reports.

The baby was found on Sunday in the cold, damp tunnel 8 feet where they dropped it or hid itAccording to the police, he said New York Post.

The dramatic case began when GE staff reported to police that they had found an unauthorized woman at the facility saying she had lost her daughter and did not remember how she got there, according to Times Union. The baby was found after a Desperate 12-hour night search by multiple agencies with drones and police dogs.

But the rescue came too late for Halo, who died from exposure and hypothermia at a local hospital at 1:24 pm Sunday. Her mother had been taken into custody previously, at dawn, while the baby was searched.

Halo’s disappearance occurred when the area was hit by a winter storm and joined the alleged “depraved indifference” on his mother’s side, which influenced the murder charge, authorities said.

“The mother was in a heated building. “This utility enclosure with an 8-foot drop was where she allegedly dropped, placed or hid the baby,” Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney said at a news conference Monday.

Approximately two hours before Halo was found, an Amber Alert was issued Sunday morning regarding a baby reported missing from a Schenectady residence since Saturday night.

Nelson had been living in the region since November, first in a shelter in Albany County, New York’s capital, before moving to Electric City with a boyfriend, prosecutors said.

She and her daughter had been at a social gathering near the GE facility when the suspect somehow managed to enter the power plant with the baby, said authorities, who are tracking what happened next.

An unidentified woman who said she was related to Halo’s father told reporters that he He had been fighting for custody of the baby.

All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

In a similar case, a month ago a young 21-year-old Latina mother was arrested after her hours-old baby was found alone in the hallway of a residential building in Yonkers (NY). A good Samaritan wrapped her in a blanket and called 911, saving her life.

Days before, Lasasha Gouldbourne (31) was charged with involuntary manslaughter months after her newborn twin was found stuffed in a laundry bag in The Bronx (NYC).
