Renowned television host Jimmy Kimmel has been announced as the host of the 96th Academy Awards, marking his fourth time at the helm of the prestigious event.
After hosting the ceremony in 2017 and 2018, Jimmy returns as host of the Academy Awards, becoming one of the few presenters to repeat on multiple occasions.
Only three people: Bob Hope with a total of 11 appearances, Billy Crystal with 9 and Johnny Carson with 5, have held the role of host more times than Kimmel. In this case, the host of a late-night-show will make his fourth appearance at the Oscars.

Kimmel’s expectations
In a recent interview, Jimmy expressed:
“It is an experience that I try to remember as special. “I just want to make sure that the people that are watching and the people that are there that we bring the right amount of respect and also the right amount of disrespect to the procedures.”
The host, known for his sense of humor, joked about his supposed nemesis, Matt Damon, who co-stars in one of the most nominated films, Oppenheimer.
“Matt Damon was completely left out of the Oscar festivities. Even in the movie. It couldn’t be more embarrassing for him. “It’s like everyone in the class was invited to a birthday party, and he’s the only kid who didn’t,” he said.
Although politics is often present at the Academy Awards, Kimmel mentioned that it is not his main goal to focus on this topic during the ceremony.
In a humorous way, he mentioned that he could make a joke about it, such as taking all the nominees to the border to solve the immigration problem. However, his intention is to provide an entertaining and balanced show.
The host also admitted that he never imagined he would be asked to host the Academy Awards again after his previous experiences.
He considers that four times as host is a solid number and does not presume that he will be asked again. Kimmel joked that being a regular guest like Bob Hope could lead to him being taken for granted and quickly resented.
