On the initiative of the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domnas Michailidou and the administrator of e-EFKA, Alexandros Varveris, extraordinary measures are being taken to facilitate unemployed citizens who wish to activate their insurance capacity.
In particular, those interested who have now settled their debts (either by paying off or settling and paying the first installment), can:
a) To go to any local e-EFKA branch and even without an appointment, especially for issues of insurance capacity and to obtain insurance capacity immediately.
b) To enter the online service “Check of insurance capacity of self-employed persons” and select “dispute debts”. A special task force, set up for this purpose, processes the requests and insurance capacity is restored within a few hours.
c) To wait for the scheduled automatic performance of insurance capacity. Even in this respect, instead of being held monthly, it was decided to be held every week as an emergency. Already, as of yesterday, those who paid or settled by March 6th became insurable, while those who did so from March 7th will automatically become insurable at the end of next week.
Debt control
Since it is observed that the majority of those who approached the stores and the platform still had debts and, in order not to suffer, those concerned are requested, before contacting the local stores, to check:
a) if they actually have insurance capacity, by following the above link,
b) if they have current debts, by clicking here and
c) if they have confirmed debts to the KEAO, which they should pay or settle, by clicking here.
As stated in a relevant announcement, the insurance capacity is attributed to all employees.
As for the unemployeda necessary condition is either (a) to have paid their insurance contributions or (b) to have settled their debts and regularly pay the installments provided for by the regulation.
As for the employeesthe condition is the realization of at least 50 working days (declared in the APD by the employer) during the previous calendar year or during the last twelve months, regardless of the payment of contributions by the employer.
It is emphasized that the loss of insurance capacity does not imply the loss of free medical care. All legally resident citizens in the country with an active AMKA have unhindered and free access to hospitalization and medical care in the public health system, i.e. in public hospitals, as well as in Health Centers.
Special care has been taken for the following vulnerable population groups: minors, people with disabilities and chronically ill patients, who are also covered by private doctors for prescribing medicines, treatments and diagnostic tests.
Finally, it is recalled that exceptional insurance capacity for the period 2024-2025 has also been granted to categories of workers who face objective difficulty in meeting and meeting the necessary conditions of the insurance capacity: affected by natural disasters, to the workers at the Skaramanga Shipyards, to Perama Shipyard Repair Zone and Elefsina Shipyards.
