March 11, 2024

The Marikenhuis is a center for people affected by cancer. You can participate in many activities. If you want to get a taste of the atmosphere, visit the open walk-in on Monday to Thursday from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM or make an appointment outside these hours (how? Check the contact page of the website). You can find the complete range of activities on the website and you can also register for an activity there. A selection from the offer:

Make your own lunch together

Every Tuesday from 10am – 1pm. Prepare your own healthy lunch together with others. Eating well is not only tasty, but just like exercise, it is super important. More and more doctors also see the importance and value of nutrition, exercise and well-being in people with cancer. Natural food chef Marjanne supervises the workshop. She teaches you how to cook deliciously and tastefully with simple ingredients and seasonal vegetables. While enjoying a cup of coffee or tea with an explanation, you will hear what you are going to make that day. Then you start working together and around 12.30 it is time for a delicious homemade lunch, enjoy and chat. Register on time. Costs: €3.50

Workshop handmassage
Monday, March 25 at 2 p.m you can participate again in the hand massage workshop. You will discover how hand massage gives you peace and space and provides a pleasant feeling. You massage and receive massage together with other participants in a small group. Anneke van Ginkel, volunteer at the Marikenhuis, has a lot of experience with hand massage and explains the options. Afterwards you will receive an explanation about how you can get started with it at home. Feel free to bring a friend or family member. Costs: €2.50.

Workshop Chineng Qigong
Tuesday, March 26 at 11 a.m you can get acquainted with this Chinese meditative movement form, with simple, gentle movements. “What you pay attention to grows!” is the motto. Physical movements support this focus.

You usually stand when practicing Chineng Qigong, but many exercises can also be done sitting. By practicing Chineng Qigong you give yourself the opportunity to get moving and work on your well-being. You can start to feel on a deeper level, and no, that is not always fun at first. But in the second or third instance, you can find yourself, or parts of yourself. Costs €2.50.
